Consumers for Quality Care Issues Statement on House Passage of Lower Costs, More Transparency Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Consumers for Quality Care issued the following statement applauding the passage of the Lower Costs, More Transparency Act by the U.S. House of Representatives with an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote.
The House’s passage of the Lower Costs, More Transparency Act is a critical step to reduce health care costs by increasing price transparency, enacting site-neutrality, and reigning in PBMs.
For too long, reduced competition between health care providers has left consumers with little choice in care, while a lack of price transparency has simultaneously kept them in the dark on what they will be expected to pay for services.
This legislation has the potential to help protect consumers from bad practices being utilized by hospitals and PBMs across the country and, if passed, will protect more Americans from falling into medical debt. Consumers for Quality Care urges the Senate to immediately take up this legislation and give Americans the relief that they deserve.
