Woman Fights Against Bill For COVID-19 Testing

Michelle Mosher needed a COVID-19 test after her boyfriend’s coworker tested positive for the virus. She assumed it would be free, but got a surprise bill a month later for $40.60.

It wasn’t until WBTV in Charlotte got involved that she finally received a response from the urgent care facility, which had assumed that Mosher had Medicare.

The urgent care facility eventually disregarded the bill and cleared her balance.

“This just makes me wonder how many other people have gotten a bill and just paid it not thinking twice about it.”

The bottom line: COVID-19 testing is free under the CARES Act. It will either be covered by your insurance or by the federal government, but you should not receive a bill.
