If the insurance company doesn’t cover a treatment or takes a long time to approve it, patients are forced to decide between refusing treatment or paying for procedures and prescriptions out of pocket. Combined with increasingly high deductibles and out-of-pocket costs, seeking treatment has become a daunting task for many Americans.

Research from Ipsos on behalf of Consumers for Quality Care shows that “two in three Americans struggle with predicting how much they will have to pay for health care when they need it.” Americans worry about health care costs even more than retirement, college, housing or child care.
