I firmly believe that," said Makary, a surgical oncologist and professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. "But oftentimes these patients are being shaken down with the most aggressive and predatory practices we've ever seen in the history of medicine."
