Consumers for Quality Care Announces 35th Partner Organization, the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health

The think tank is dedicated to improving access to quality maternal mental health through systemic change

WASHINGTON — Today, Consumers for Quality Care (CQC) announced a valuable addition to its growing coalition of advocates and former policymakers: the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health. The organization joins CQC in partnership to continue the mission of ensuring patient voices are at the forefront of the ongoing health care debate. Through this partnership, the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health will join forces with CQC’s diverse group of organizations to advocate for quality, affordable health care for American consumers.

The Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health is a policy think tank and field catalyst dedicated to closing the gaps in maternal mental health care. Working on the state and federal levels, its mission is to inform and facilitate systemic change to achieve a future where mothers, children, and families have equal opportunities to thrive.

“At the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health, catalyzing action to deliver real change in our health care system is our first priority, so we are thrilled to join Consumers for Quality Care’s ever-expanding coalition of health care advocates,” said Joy Burkhard, Executive Director of the Policy Center. “We look forward to partnering with the coalition as we continue our mission to prioritize and improve maternal mental health. Together, we can accomplish more in improving the well-being of mothers and families everywhere.

“As an organization focused on alleviating obstacles to maternal mental health and addressing gaps in health care access, the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health will be a powerful addition to CQC’s coalition,” Donna Christensen, CQC board member, physician, and former Member of Congress said. “This organization’s mission aligns well with CQC’s work, and together, we will continue to ensure our health care system delivers for the patients it was created to serve.”

CQC is proud to partner with 35 leading advocacy organizations to continue to shape the health care debate through research, consumer-focused advocacy, and direct action on critical issues at the state and national levels.

About the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health

The Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health (the “Policy Center”) is working to prevent the suffering of mothers, babies, and families associated with untreated maternal mental health disorders, like postpartum depression. The Policy Center has driven the national conversation from one centered around raising awareness of one disorder, postpartum depression, to building a movement to address maternal mental health. The organization’s work centers around closing gaps in the healthcare system by scaling change through the identification of evidence-based and emerging solutions, cross-sector collaboration, and advancing legislative and regulatory policy solutions.
