CQC Welcomes New Coalition Partners: Color of Crohn’s and Chronic Illness and The Headache and Migraine Policy Forum

WASHINGTON Consumers for Quality Care (CQC), a coalition of advocates and former policy makers working to provide a voice for patients in the health care debate, is pleased to welcome Color of Crohn’s and Chronic Illness (COCCI) and the Headache and Migraine Policy Forum as new coalition partners. These organizations join a robust coalition of advocates for high quality, affordable health care.

“As a national patient advocacy organization dedicated to achieving health equity, eliminating disparities and improving the health of all people with digestive diseases, including the diversity population, COCCI is excited to become a member of Consumers for Quality Care and join in the important work of the coalition  to ensure patients of color – and their right to high quality health care – are front and center in the health care debate,” said Melodie Narain-Blackwell Founder and President, Color of Crohn’s and Chronic Illness.

The Color of Crohn’s and Chronic Illness will be an important partner voice to add to the CQC coalition. They are working towards an equitable health care system freed from the seeds of racism, providing the space and opportunity for all individuals to be regarded as such, to have their care delivered based on needs and best opportunities for optimal outcomes by improving the quality of life for BIPOC who are affected by IBD, digestive disorders and associated chronic illnesses, through community, research, education, and advocacy.

The Headache and Migraine Policy Forum helps to advance public policies that promote accelerated innovation and improved access to treatments for persons living with headache disorders and migraine disease.

“For too long, those living with migraine disease – the second most disabling disease globally – have not had adequate options available to treat their disease,” said Lindsay Videnieks, Executive Director of the Headache and Migraine Policy Forum. “We are proud to join with Consumers for Quality Care in the fight to help work towards a patient-centered health system by improving insurance design, reducing restrictive utilization barriers, and putting the needs of consumers first. Ensuring access to high quality, comprehensive health care is imperative for those living with migraine disease and headache disorders.”

CQC is proud to partner with 28 leading advocacy organizations, patient advocate groups, and individual consumers to continue to shape the health care debate through research, consumer-focused advocacy, and direct action on critical issues at the state and national levels.

“We are excited to welcome two strong new coalition partners in Color of Crohn’s and Chronic Illness and The Headache and Migraine Policy Forum to our ever-growing community of dedicated advocates,” said the Honorable Donna Christensen, CQC board member, physician, and former Member of Congress. “These organizations’ commitment to elevating the voice of patients to the forefront of the health care conversation speaks to the core mission and origins of CQC. We look forward to working with both Color of Crohn’s and Chronic Illness and The Headache and Migraine Policy Forum to advance opportunities for consumers and patients.”
